This is real soul food! I had the whiting with fried cabbage and potato salad. Since it was my first time, I had to try the wings, too. You can't get any more down home than this. I always thought no one could make potato salad better than my Nana--until now.
My one complaint has nothing to do with the food. The signage on the building made me think I was in the wrong place. Nevertheless, my nose told me this was the spot! An authentic soul food joint (yes, I said it) is supposed to lure people in with the smell of the delicious food that awaits them. Shugar Shack is the real deal. -

My boyfriend and I ordered the fried fish and fried chicken, green beans, rice and gravy, collards, and mac & cheese. The meats were good, but the the sides were horrible. Gravy was nasty and too thick, green beans were sweet, collards tasted like they were pickled, and mac & cheese tasted like very strange.
